I have installed their paid edition on another computer (way back before WD offered the free edition) and I don’t recall this happening with that version, albeit it was 2008 or 2009. If you want reasonable speed, give us some money’? Computer backups need to be stored someplace safe. Is this just Acronis’ way of saying ‘look, if you want the free WD edition, you must pay in time. I guess my question is, how long does it take? The fact that the initial dialogue took so long makes me reluctant to just abort (and create a coaster out of the disk). It shows up okay in Explorer and I’ve not had any issues with other CDs in this batch. I’m fairly certain the CD I have in the drive is good.

Luckily I could get rid of ATIH 2009 on my notebook by doing a system restore from a recent restore point.I do not dare to do a new install here and just use the rescue boot cd for an image. After having installed Acronis 2009 on a my new computer (old PC broken down, new PC Windows XP 32bit, 2 hard disk drives, 2 CD/DVD drives, 4 card slots) it works when started from desktop, the program detects all hard disks. Remove Acronis SnapAPI drivers (see Removing Acronis SnapAPI Drivers) Unregister Acronis Scheduler service (see Unregistering Acronis Scheduler Service) Open Windows Task Manager and stop the TrueImageMonitor.exe process.

It scares me already when someday I'll have to update to a newer version. It doesn't make sense to me that this software, which has great reviews (and indeed it seems to work well), is so awkward when un-installing it.įor now I'm stuck with the Dutch version on my desktop and spent money on a English version I cannot install on this machine. I have ATIH 2009 installed on both my (Vista) notebook as well as my XPSP3 desktop.īecause I accidentely installed the Dutch version on my English Windows XP desktop, I also a bought an English language version and wanted to replace the Dutch version here.
